Halloween in November

So, I gave myself a 30th birthday party, I know that sounds dumb, but I really wanted to have a crazy funfest for my 30th and I didn't want anyone else to have to plan it. I wanted to give my friends and family a great night away from the kids, with adults, and to just have good, somewhat clean, fun.
So, I think it turned out great. More people came then I thought would. My adorable baby brother Kirby came, as Walter Wonka, Willy's younger black sheep brother. Nic and I were Esmerelda and the Hunchback. My friend Dani took some great shots of the party.

My father in law and Jean Meacham getting groovy on the karaoke.

Mark feeling "Too Sexy" for his dead limo driver costume.

The Prettiest Costume Award goes to.... a mulleted Tooth Fairy....what???
Nathan, you owned that tutu!

I didn't know LOTR elves did the congo, K, you rocked those ears!

I got to play games, sing "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun", dance to Abba, and to top off the best birthday ever, I got to start a congo line. What can top that? Three birthday cakes, check, permagrin all night, check.

Pretty even with flour on her face, Angie, and Dave. Watch "The Office", and you will love Matt's costume.

Mario and Luigi brought the most delicious carmel apple truffles! I want that recipe, thanks for the pictures Dani.

Melissa, winner of the scariest costume award, she was a Primary President.

Aaarrrgghh! Thar be pirates at my party! And boy do they know how to party! Thanks for all your help D! Best Costume Award Winners Darilyn and Chris.

Cute cowgirl Caitlin, and not-so-cute Nate the creepy toothfairy.

I'm trying to make a slideshow for this, but if you'd like to see the slide show Dani made here's the link.

Best Small Town Sign Award goes to.....

This reads "Something Stinks In The Columbia Gorge, Yea Larry Price!"
I can't stop laughing. Poor Larry Price, the immortal stinker.

Nic and I spent the weekend together on the Columbia Gorge, cruising in Miss Daisy (sorry Rich, but we renamed her so we can say "We're driving Miss Daisy,") reading, eating, kissing, shopping, picture taking, laughing, sleeping, eating, watching movies, eating, getting blown away in the wind, and pinching ourselves that we didn't have to get booster seats at the restaurant and no one peed the bed at the lodge. It was (insert big sigh here) very relaxing and fun. So here's a huge THANK YOU to Paula and Caitlin for the wonderful weekend. And to the Town of Stevenson, you get the Best Small Town Sign Award!

A Good Song

Heard this song on the radio and downloaded it for free here
"Daylight" by Matt and Kim.
Hope you like it too.

I just read bonnevillemariner's post on the Christmas album put out by Jack Johnson's crew, called Warm December. I agree about the album being lukewarm. I've heard it all before.  Exception: Zee Avi's track "No Christmas For Me."  Great song, love her voice. You can also download that track for free here
So happy pre-Christmas friends, and enjoy the tunes.

Labryinth

So I'm a little back logged with, well, LIFE in general. I've been in recovery mode since my AWESOME 30th birthday party last week, and so I'm slow with the adorable pix of my kids in costume. I'll get to them soon, but right now I'm chillin' on my bed with a couple cute cuddlers and we are watching one of my all time favorite shows, Labryinth (not to be confused with Pan's Labryinth - which is also good, but not kid friendly, that creature with the hand eye face is still haunting me.)
There is nothing like the dancing creatures that can pop off their heads, or Hoggle and his jewels, and that adorable fuzzy giant Ludo. My favorite, to Nic's disgust, is The Gobblin King, Gareth played by the always sexy David Bowie.

p.s. I totally had 12 year old fantasies of a big puffy dress and David Bowie being in love with me to distraction!
